Lambert, Idols Live Featured in Rolling Stone

The September 3, 2009, issue of Rolling Stone features a quick look at life on the road for this season’s American Idols Live! tour.

The star of the show, and of the magazine article, is glam rocker and 2nd place winner Adam Lambert. His 20-minute set is the show’s highlight, and he is soaking up the whole experience. He duets with Allison Iraheta and busts out with a David Bowie medley. The set ends with a snarling rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love,” and the panties and bras go flying.

Idol winner Kris Allen gets a brief mention, as does Anoop Desai, but in a less favorable light. For Rolling Stone, it’s really all about Adam.

Paula Abdul Not Returning to “Idol” Season 9

It’s been reported that Paula Abdul will not be returning to judge the ninth season of “American Idol.” Apparently Abdul twittered the news to fan followers last Thursday after a series of contract negotiations about her compensation broke down.

Sad to say, it seems her decision is ultimately based on money and the fact that her salary is unfair at $4 million a year. She supposedly asked for a raise to $20 million, came down to $12 million, but Fox Entertainment only offered her $5.2 million.

Fans of the show will certainly miss Paula and her zany antics, but she also lent the panel a touch of compassion and positivity that nicely balanced against Simon Cowell’s scowell. Rumored temporary replacements include Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham, a.k.a., Posh Spice.
